Swedish massage

Swedish massage is the most commonly offered and best-known type of massage.  It uses a firm but gentle pressure to improve the circulation, ease muscle aches and tension, improve flexibility and create relaxation.

The main purpose of Swedish massage is to increase the oxygen flow in the blood and release toxins from the muscles.

Swedish massage feels good, is relaxing and invigorating.  It affects the nerves, muscles, glands, and circulation, while promoting health and well being.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep Tissue Massage is a massage technique that focuses on the deeper layers of muscle tissue.  It feels good and it is beneficial to your health.  When muscles are stressed, they block oxygen and nutrients, leading to inflammation that builds up toxins in the muscle tissue.  A deep-tissue massage helps loosen muscle tissues, release toxins from muscles and get blood and oxygen circulating properly.

It is especially helpful for chronically tense and contracted areas such as stiff necks, low back tightness and sore shoulders.  Some of the same strokes are used as classic Swedish massage therapy, but the movement is slower and the pressure is deeper and concentrated on areas of tension and pain.

Unlike classic massage therapy, which is used for relaxation, deep tissue massage usually focuses on a specific problem.

Hot Stone Massage

Heat from the stones relaxes muscles by increasing the blood flow to the area being worked on.  This further accelerates the healing process.  This increase in circulation and the relaxation of the muscles also aids in mental relaxation.

Many people find the warmth of the hot stones to be comforting.  It's suited for people who have muscle tension but prefer a lighter massage.  The heat relaxes muscles, allowing the therapist to work the muscles without using deep pressure.

Hot stone massage is beneficial for a variety of health conditions.  Like most forms of massage, stone massage helps the lymphatic system detoxify the body.

Prenatal Massage

Prenatal Massage is a form of therapeutic bodywork geared to meet the unique needs of a pregnant woman.  Prenatal Massage promotes better function of muscles and joints.   Prenatal Massage also improves circulation and overall body tone.  Additionally, Prenatal Massage decreases mental and physical fatigue.

Prenatal Massage helps  to relieve sciatic nerve pain and other conditions experienced during pregnancy.  Prenatal Massage is an effective therapy for helping to calm and promote overall wellbeing. Prenatal massage usually begins during the second and or third trimesters of pregnancy.
